Addiction Recovery

I came to counselling struggling with addiction. Nothing I tried on my own was working, and my life was spiralling out of control — I was losing jobs, relationships, and any sense of stability.

At first, I only came to counselling to please others and to show I was “trying” to get better. I understood how counselling could help, but I didn’t allow it to help me properly. You really do need a genuine desire to change for counselling to make a difference.

Adrian was great for me. He understood me and could identify where I was going wrong, even when I couldn’t see it myself. The space was calm and safe, and his presence made me feel grounded. He was the first person, as an adult, I felt able to be vulnerable with.

It took time, but Adrian helped me understand my childhood, the behavioural patterns that were ruining my life, and why my attempts to get sober had failed so many times before. He helped me understand the childhood traumas I was still attached to and what I needed to do to heal.

Talking openly and having someone help unravel and make sense of the things in my head was key. The homework and reviewing it together each session was also really helpful.

For the first time in 10 years, I am over 100 days free of cocaine. I still check in with Adrian and plan to continue counselling as I move forward in my recovery.

I used to believe no one could help me and that I had to do everything on my own. I was too proud to ask for help because of shame. Counselling has shown me there is no harm in asking for support — and that there are people better placed than me, with my ego, to guide me.

I would recommend counselling to anyone. If you’re reading this and unsure whether you need counselling, you probably do. Don’t put it off.

Thank you, Adrian, for all your help — and please keep helping others who need it

Anxiety and Depression

I came to therapy during a very difficult period in my life, feeling overwhelmed and needing a non-judgemental space to understand what was happening to me.

The counselling environment felt calm and grounding. Early on, I learned a lot about how the mind works and about ideation, which helped me make sense of my thoughts rather than feel frightened by them.

I felt understood and supported throughout. Although I was anxious at the start and unsure what to expect, I quickly felt able to open up. Adrian was easy to talk to, and I felt my emotional struggles were genuinely understood.

Since therapy, I’ve learned to recognise ideation and to understand that I’m not necessarily responsible for other people’s feelings. Progress has been slow, but meaningful, and I do feel in a better place.

The initial sessions were particularly helpful in preventing me from spiralling and helped me regain a sense of control. I would recommend this service to anyone who feels lost, trapped, or constantly frustrated — especially if they’ve been putting off seeking professional support.

Addiction Recovery

I came to Adrian for help with alcohol addiction and to better understand why it had become a problem for me.

The experience was positive, and Adrian was very easy to talk to. I felt understood and supported, particularly because of his first-hand understanding of addiction.

I’m now in a much better place and feel hopeful about continuing my recovery.

Mental Health & Addiction Recovery

I came to therapy struggling with depression, substance use, and unresolved anger. At the time, I felt trapped in my life and believed there was no way out. I now love life and truly wish I had asked for help sooner.

Counselling was sometimes hard and frightening — especially revisiting painful experiences — but I learned that facing them was far less scary than avoiding them.

For the first time, I felt understood and not alone with my thoughts. I was able to talk openly about things I had kept bottled up for years.

The changes have been life-changing. I think differently, cope differently, and live a completely different life — in a positive way.

The most helpful aspects were working through anger and guilt, learning new ways to cope, and gaining peace of mind. I’m now calmer, more caring, and more aware of others.

I recommend this service wholeheartedly. It has been a game-changer. Asking for help — and accepting it — is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.

Long-Term Recovery & Trauma Work

I sought counselling for drug and alcohol addiction alongside unresolved childhood trauma.

The experience was first-class. I felt completely at ease and supported by someone who was knowledgeable, trustworthy, and able to relate through lived understanding.

The environment felt safe and allowed me to express myself freely. I was given structure through goals and weekly tasks, which helped me stay focused and accountable.

Writing exercises, particularly letter work, helped me explore emotions I had been disconnected from for decades and played a major role in my healing.

Without this counselling, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I feel I have my life back, with structure, confidence, and awareness of my challenges.

I would — and already do — recommend this service. I’ve had counselling before, but nothing compares to the care, time, and dedication I experienced here.
